STRIDE Digs In For New Year; Club Still Strong Despite Covid Challenges Thanks to Dedicated Board and Loyal Membership

Following the conclusion of the October 25th STRIDE show at the Florida Horse Park, members converged at the pavilion on the grounds for an actual in person meeting after months of Zoom meetings. It was a joyful reunion despite the occasional awkward moment of not recognizing a fellow masked member.

Kudos were given by Loretta Lucas to our board, who managed to reimagine meetings, educational events, show opportunities and protocol during these unprecedented and unexpected times. It was a yeoman’s task. Many GMOs have struggled to stay afloat.

United States Equestrian Team driving member Mary Phelps was our guest speaker.  In addition to being an internationally recognized driver, Mary is on the board of the Florida Horse Park.  She discussed upcoming improvements and ideas for the grounds and reported that many of her contacts have reacted positively to events held at the park due to the pastoral surroundings and the laid back atmosphere.

Candidates for the 2021 board were announced and ballots were distributed to attending members

The nominee for president is Dee Loveless, a decorated USDF “R”judge and instructor. The vice-presidential nominee is Stephanie Fish Crossman, also a noted instructor and USDF medalist.
